Dr Dolittle is a physician with a knack for talking to animals in this star-studded live action reimagining of the classic character. After losing his wife, the eccentric Dr. Dolittle, famed doctor and veterinarian of Queen Victoria’s England, hermits himself away behind the high walls of Dolittle Manor with only his menagerie of exotic animals for company. But when the young queen falls gravely ill, Dolittle is forced to set sail to a mythical island in search of a cure.
The Dolittle character - most famously brought to the screen in the 1967 musical - was created in the trenches of World War I, where author Hugh Lofting first devised him in letters to his children.
