Everyone is invited to the Albany Asian New Year Festival!
The Albany Asian New Year Festival is a community-focused and community-led cultural celebration held in Albany, Auckland marking the new year of the lunisolar calendar and celebrating the traditions of various Asian cultures.
It's the second year we are hosting the even and it is to bring families and the wider community together to honour and share the rich customs (often called Chinese New Year, Korean Seollal, Tết in Vietnam, Lunar New Year, etc.), highlighting traditions from across East and Southeast Asia.
Activities
- Cultural Performances from 12:00pm-4:00pm
- Traditional and contemporary performances including lion dances, martial arts, K-Pop and traditional instrument showcases.
- Family & Community Activities
- Free family-friendly activities such as trying traditional clothes, photo opportunity with ponies, kimchi and dumpling making workshop, lantern making, calligraphy, new year crafts, face painting, outdoor games and more!
- Horseback riding available too as 2026 is Year of the Horse!
- Food & Market Stalls
- A wide selection of Asian food stalls and festive treats.
- Community Engagement
- Opportunities to learn about local community groups, initiatives, and cultural heritage. Enjoying, celebrating strengthening connections across cultures with the whole community.
- The Albany Village Library will also have morning activities and performances from 9:30am-11am. Head to the Albany Domain for the Festival from 11am-5pm.
