Introducing, Kia Ora, an Evening of Classical Music featuring the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony, visiting from Minnesota USA and the Auckland Youth Orchestra. Join us for an exciting evening of music and culture, benefiting Sistema Aotearoa.
The Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS) is the largest youth orchestra programme in the USA, opening doors to music and provides a pathway for students of all ages, backgrounds and musical levels. Committed to both excellence and access, their educational programs break down barriers, inspiring students to excel musically and build lifelong skills which serve them in school and beyond. Led by professional conductor and educator Mark Russell Smith.
Auckland Youth Orchestra is the premier regional youth orchestra in New Zealand. Founded in 1948 and originally named the Auckland Junior Symphony Orchestra (or AJSO), it was the first youth orchestra established in the Southern Hemisphere. It is designed to bridge the gap between school orchestras and adult professional groups.
