Response 51 Childrens Bread Making

Experience a time when every meal was truly homegrown and homemade, tracing the journey of food straight from the farm and fields to the family table.

In the authentic kitchen of the historic homestead Puhi Nui, costumed historical interpreter Diane Shepperson will introduce you to the traditional basics of bread baking.

Learn about the fascinating history of flour milling and have a go at grinding wheat yourself. Then mix and shape your dough to bake a delicious mini loaf. While the wood-fired ovens work their magic and your bread is baking, you are free to explore the rest of the historic village.

This interactive experience is perfect for heritage lovers aged five and over, and supervising parents are very welcome to join in the fun. Come along to discover the simple, rewarding joy of traditional baking.
