Keen to learn one of Aotearoa's three official languages?

This New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) taster class is to introduce beginners to the language.

This interactive class will be led by one of Auckland Deaf Society's deaf tutors, Janey-Mei, and a NZSL interpreter.

Attendees will learn basic communication skills like fingerspelling, greetings, numbers, and useful phrases in a hands-on, fun, and authentic insight into Deaf culture.

NZSL is vital for fostering inclusivity, allowing for better connection with the Deaf community. As one of Aotearoa's official languages, it enhances communication, promotes equity in public life, and strengthens social cohesion by bridging the gap between hearing and Deaf individuals.

This event is part of Adult Learners’ Week, supported by Adult and Community Education (ACE) Aotearoa, the UNESCO New Zealand National Commission, and the Tertiary Education Commission. Thank you for your support!
