More colourful art has popped up on the walls of the city.

Heart of the City, the city centre business association, has asked artists to tell a story about Auckland in the shape of a heart.

First up was one of New Zealand’s best-loved artists, Dick Frizzell, who reworked his famous tiki motif for Downtown Tiki on the wall of the Auckland Fish Market in Wynyard Quarter.

Next in the Hearts of the City series of murals is a vibrant new piece by Flox, who is well known for her lush depictions of flora and fauna. She's combined the native natural worlds of both New Zealand and China in her piece East Meets West, which you can find in the alley next to Sheinken Cafe on Lorne Street.
