The Hillary Trail, named after one of the nation's most beloved outdoorsmen Sir Ed Hillary, is a spectacular multi-day tramping trip through native forest and along the wild coast of the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park.
Visitors say they are stunned by the quality and range of the natural vistas, from forest and clifftops to wild beachscapes.
On its official Facebook page, the Hillary Trail is running a competition to find the best images of the trail, as seen by visitors – best view, best bit of mud, people out there enjoying the trail, whatever visitors think is an iconic Hillary Trail image.
The competition ends on Monday 23 November, after which Sarah and Peter Hillary will help judge the best photos.
The best 10 photos will be displayed at Arataki Visitor Centre in January 2016 as part of a small Hillary Trail birthday display.
