The kindergarten at Myers Park in central Auckland celebrated its 100th birthday on 15 November.
Arthur Myers, a former mayor of Auckland, donated the kindergarten, along with the surrounding park, to the people of Auckland in 1915.
In recent years, Waitematā Local Board has upgraded the park, most notably with the construction of a new playground, which opened in 2015. Updated lighting and CCTV cameras have also been added to improve safety. The playground was awarded top honours at the 2015 Resene Total Colour Awards.
