What other cities can learn from Auckland

Like other cities around the world, Auckland is experiencing rapid growth that is causing pressure on transportation, housing, public services and liveability.

This is a love story – a story about a city and region remaking itself with the goal of being a place that its citizens will love, a story about a dialogue between a city and the people who live there.

Auckland’s design-led approach to city planning and our focus on creating a city that people can love were singled out by the report’s authors as lessons for other cities.

In addition, Auckland’s integrated transportation network, the revitalisation of Wynyard Quarter, and our shared spaces and laneways were highlighted as examples of how to create a vibrant and resilient city.
