Get Ready Week, which runs from October 9 to 13, is a great time to think about what you might do in an emergency. Ensuring you have access to a radio is one of the things you can do during this week.
In an emergency Auckland Emergency Management will work together with radio broadcasters to tell people what they need to know to get through.
If the power goes out, a transistor radio – either solar powered or battery operated – can help you keep up to date with the latest news.
Top tip: If you are caught unprepared, don’t forget that most cars have a radio that can be used.
Keep a note of the following stations in your Emergency Plan:
- National Radio 756AM or 101.4FM
- Newstalk ZB 89.4FM
- Classic Hits 97.4FM
- More FM 91.8FM
- Radio Live 702AM or 100.6FM
