More than 20,000 people took to Auckland’s waterfront to complete the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays on Sunday.
The 8.4km course had participants pounding the pavement along the Waitematā Harbour from Quay Street in the CBD to St Heliers Bay.
Out in force in ‘Let’s Run This City’ t-shirts were 750 Auckland Council employees and leisure centre members, many of whom got race ready at their local leisure centre and weekly run clubs.
Among the team crossing the finish line was Auckland Mayor Phil Goff.
“It was fantastic completing Round the Bays with thousands of Aucklanders. The sun was out and spirits were high. It is events like these that make our city an interesting and exciting place to live.
“Well done to everyone who took part and a huge thank you to the organisers and volunteers who helped make this event happen.”
