The Kumeū-Huapai Centre Plan is now online and printed copies are available at Kumeū Library and Huapai Service Centre.
The Kumeū-Huapai community’s involvement has been fundamental to the plan’s creation and development. Adopted last year by Rodney Local Board, the plan will influence how the town centre evolves now and in the long-term.
Local board deputy chair Phelan Pirrie says, “Our town centres have a vital role in bringing together communities, creating jobs and attracting tourists.
“The plan contains the community’s vision for the town centre and it is important for an area that is growing rapidly.
“Improving town centres is a focus of the local board and our residents. More than 70 per cent of submissions received during the recent 10-year Budget feedback support this priority.
“The local board is planning to invest $50,000 in the 2018/2019 financial year and a further $800,000 over the next three years to support the community in leading projects that improve town centres in Kumeū-Huapai, Helensville, Warkworth and Wellsford.”
Kumeū-Huapai’s vision is for an attractive town centre that focuses on the river, has improved connections, and celebrates its heritage and rural hinterland.
