Auckland Council will be conducting a by-election in Howick during August and September, with nominations opening next week.
The by-election follows the passing of Councillor Dick Quax on 28 May, which created a vacancy on the council’s Governing Body for the Howick ward.
Nominations will open on Wednesday 20 June and must be received by 12 noon on Wednesday 18 July.
Voting documents will be posted to eligible voters from Wednesday 22 August, with voting closing at 12 noon on Thursday 13 September.
The council’s Finance and Performance Committee will be asked to approve the budget for the by-election on 19 June.
The council invites members of the public to sign a Book of Remembrance in memory of Councillor Quax. These books are available at Howick Library and Pakuranga Library until Friday 22 June.
The location and opening hours of both libraries can be found here.
