Toilet facilities are being installed at several parks in time for a busy summer on the Hibiscus Coast.
Visitors to Red Beach and Gulf Harbour parks will soon have toilets close by that are easy to access from playgrounds and sports fields.
At Metro Park East, toilets will be in a container near the hockey turf. These toilets are temporary until the multi-sports building is developed.
Hibiscus and Bays Local Board Deputy Chair Janet Fitzgerald is pleased the facilities have been fast-tracked and that, by delivering several toilets together, savings will be realised.
"These parks are popular and getting busier every day, and that will continue with new families moving into the area all the time.
“It’s important that our communities are well-catered for with parks and facilities that are family-friendly and offer a range of activities that everyone can enjoy.”
Each toilet facility has two unisex cubicles and an outside drinking water fountain.
The building’s exterior design at Gulf Harbour reflects the fishing that takes place nearby and at Red Beach the design is a pohutukawa flower.
At Metro Park, the container’s exterior panels will have a similar design to the toilets located at the park’s northern end.
The total cost for all three toilet facilities is $1 million.
