Beachlands is getting a stunning new playground at Constellation Park to complement the new housing around the area.
The new development will be available to use from Tuesday 18 September and will combine all the popular features of typical playgrounds, like swings, a climbing wall and slides, with a figure eight bike track and an inclusive carousel which can be accessed by those in wheelchairs.
Franklin Local Board member for the Wairoa subdivision Malcolm Bell says the new playground and associated amenities fill a need within the local community.
“The playground will cater to all age groups, abilities and provide a focal point for our area,” he says.
“We’re really pleased to be able to deliver this project just before the weather starts to warm up.”
The project has been enabled thanks to Regional Growth funding. Franklin Local Board also contributed an extra $88,000 from their Locally Driven Initiatives fund to ensure all the stages of the project were delivered together to complete the intended design.
Malcolm says Beachlands has a growing number of families so it’s important the local board was able to respond to this.
“As Beachlands grows, it’s important we are responsive to these changes and provide the facilities to match.”
