Kawakawa Bay Boating Club ramp is fully back in action.
Badly damaged in last year’s storms and others previously, the pontoons needed a major overhaul and Franklin Local Board member Malcolm Bell says it great to see them back.
"Kawakawa Bay has one of the best boat ramp facilities anywhere in Auckland with two ramps to choose from – the public ramp and the boat club ramp with its pontoons and a breakwater make it the most popular destination in South Auckland for launching a boat," he says.
"There is great access to fishing and boating in the Firth of Thames, western Coromandel and Ponui and Waitemata harbours.
"Despite there being a public access ramp I’d still encourage people to join the Kawakawa Bay Boat Club because its full of great people and offers all-weather launching facilities and the fees are very reasonable.
"The club committee and members work hard to provide safe and secure launching and also offer recovery services, and they are very focused on safety at sea and are also active in promoting water sports."
