TW Eco Vision Facilitator

Aotea resident Taryn Wilks of Sustainable Aotea has been appointed as Great Barrier Island’s new Ecology Vision facilitator. Taryn has a wealth of knowledge in both freshwater and terrestrial ecology. In her new role, Taryn will be supporting existing community groups to achieve their ecological restoration goals and helping emerging groups by providing technical advice and resources where needed. She will work on establishing new and innovative projects that will drive and encourage community participation in restoration.

The Aotea / Great Barrier Local Board have committed to funding the Ecology Vision Project for the 2019/2020 financial year.

The community can stay up to date on the projects via the Ecology Vision Facebook page, Aotea FM and regular articles in the Barrier Bulletin. The newly developed Ecology Vision website will also provide information about the ecological projects happening across Aotea and emerging research in ecological restoration.

If you have an ecological community project idea, would like to get involved or simply want to stay in the loop, sign up to the Ecology Vision updates, by emailing taryn@sustainableaotea.co.nz or calling 09 429 0626.
