“A great opportunity to see new technology in action and mix with industry professionals,” is how Wynyard Edge Alliance’s Environmental and Sustainability Manager, Brendon Barnett, describes the annual Earthworks Field Day.

Held at Whenuapai recently, the event was organised by Auckland Council and attracted around 350 earthworks representatives.

Presentations included decanting earth bunds, sediment retention ponds, managing mud, bridging the gap between subdivisions to building sites and council updates.

The on-site demonstrations and presentations were valuable for Barnett's younger team members.

“It was great to see new technologies and to see erosion and sediment control devices in action and to see quality products built to standard," he said.

Auckland Council Regulatory Compliance Manager, Steve Pearce, said the day was well supported, and the feedback was positive.

“This year we had another great turn out for our annual Earthworks Field Day,” Pearce said.

“The event is all about promoting best practice in the industry to ensure the best environmental outcomes are achieved on these large sites around Auckland. Educating and working with the industry is the best way to achieve these great outcomes.”
