More than $40,000 has been allocated in the first round of Manurewa Local Board quick response grants.
Several sports groups received grants, including the Manurewa Croquet Club, which received $2000 for new balls, and Te Pou Herenga Waka Ama Club, which got the same amount for costs associated with attending the sport’s national competitions next year.
There was funding too for arts groups, with $1573 for the Tuatara Collective for theatre production costs and $2000 for the Interacting Theatre Trust towards costs for film and drama classes at Nathan Homestead for people with disabilities.
Community groups across the age-range also benefitted, with $2000 for the Independent Living Trust for venue hire, transport and end of year celebration costs for the weekly tai chi programme, while children at the Weymouth Playcentre can look forward to new art equipment and toys, having been granted $1973.
