With a face that only a mother could love, a pint-sized bachelor is off the market after picking up an online following.
Hogwart, an elderly Kunekune with bad teeth and a hairy chin, has won the heart of a Kumeu local who spotted his photo on the Auckland Council’s Silverdale Animal Shelter Facebook page.
Hogwart has lived at the shelter since 26 November 2019 after he was found wandering on a main road in Dairy Flat.
Shelter manager Kelsey Purcell says the “people-friendly pig” had proved popular online.
“He’s been here since November and hasn’t attracted any interest. On Monday we put his photo up on our Facebook page and since then three people have phoned wanting to adopt him.”
Kelsey believes Hogwart's “ugly but cute” appearance won people over.
With a passion for scraps, snoozing and a good chin scratch, Hogwart will be transported to his new home today.
“We’re really happy he’s found his forever home where he will have other pigs to play with.”
