Congratulations to all winners in the Ōrākei Local Board Business Awards, 2021.
Over the last few years, Ōrākei Local Board has held a local Business Awards programme. This year, the awards took on an additional purpose to boost local business confidence and to strengthen ties to customers despite moves online or temporary closures.
Local Board Chair Scott Milne explains that the awards couldn’t have come at a better time. “Our communities have told us that the Business Awards provided an avenue to show support for local business which couldn’t be done otherwise due to COVID-19 restrictions."
"The awards were even more important this year and so we are glad to have been able to find a way to run them despite the constraints.”
An unprecedented number of votes were received, and more than 400 businesses were nominated. The businesses were then part of a public voting process, a secret shopper visit and a comprehensive business questionnaire which was judged by a panel – a massive and complex job.
Chair Milne added, “The Supreme Award went to the deserving team at Crisp Home + Wear located in St Heliers. This local business simply shone in every category. But we can really congratulate absolutely everyone involved, the incredible local businesses, the supporters, sponsors and our community as the standard of entry was a real step-up from previous events.”
