Aucklander ratepayers now have more flexibility in how they pay for council products and services, with Online Eftpos the newest addition to the council’s payment options.
Using Online Eftpos, Aucklanders can pay using their smartphone, which is fast, easy and one of the most secure payment methods available. It also suits those who prefer to pay without using a card.
Online payment options are becoming more popular with Aucklanders, especially in the current COVID-19 environment. Digital and non-contact payment methods are more desirable than ever as physical cash or cheques can increase the risk of transmitting the virus.

Who can use Online EFTPOS?
Online Eftpos is now available for Aucklanders who use the following banks:
- Westpac
- ASB
- BNZ
- Heartland bank
What if my bank is not included?
The number of banks with Online Eftpos continues to expand, with more banks set to be added this year. If your bank is not yet eligible for Online Eftpos, you can still pay your rates bill online using our credit card or Account2Account options.
How can I use the Online EFTPOS payment option?
When you go to pay your rates, simply enter your mobile phone number and select your bank, then approve the payment within your mobile banking app. Online Eftpos will never ask you to expose your payment or online banking credentials.
