The trial pop-up cycleway in Glen Eden has launched an online survey to understand how it has been used and its impact on the local area.
While feedback has been collated throughout the trial process, this specific online survey is open to gauge views on how successful the cycleway has been.
Installed in June 2021, it connects the existing cycleway from Savoy Road, along Captain Scott Road through to Glen Eden Town Centre and Glen Eden Train Station. It uses separators and barriers to create the cycle lanes on either side of Captain Scott Road, and rubber speed humps to reduce traffic speed.
It tests and extends the existing cycleway from a residential area through to shops, services and public transport in Glen Eden town centre, and improves walking and cycling connections to schools and parks. It is in the school zone for both Glen Eden Intermediate and Glen Eden Primary School attended by some 1400 students.
Give feedback
Waitākere Ranges Local Board Chair, Saffron Toms says that it is important to give feedback on the trial cycleway.
“One of the boards priorities is to help connect Glen Eden and the surrounding areas in a more cohesive way, providing ways to reach public transport and the village centre without having to use a car.
“It also provides options for the 1400 local school children to get to and from school in a safe, convenient way, be it walking, cycling or scootering.
“There will obviously be some impact on the trial from lockdowns and with more people working from home with different commuting habits, but we are still keen to hear from as many people as possible.
“What this survey will do is help understand the wider perception of the cycleway in the community, as well as providing a formal channel to give feedback on it.
“We want to hear all the views on the project, so please take five minutes and give us your feedback.”
The survey is open until 28 February 2022.
