Over the past 15 years, Aucklanders have experienced the transformation of their inner-city waterfront to a world-class destination that excites the senses and celebrates our sea-loving Pacific culture and maritime history.
The next stage of this multi-decade transformation will build on this legacy of the much-loved and celebrated Wynyard Quarter and will focus on the land and water surrounding this area.
Eke Panuku, the city’s urban development agency, is calling for expressions of interest from designers, or a design cohort, looking for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of the team providing inspiring and innovative design responses for the public realm and open space as part of the continued regeneration of Wynyard Quarter.
Gyles Bendall, Eke Panuku General Manager, Design and Place says, “we are not just looking for the best designers to work with us. We are looking for design partners that will build a strong and enduring relationship with us, mana whenua, the place and the people that will use it. We want to make something special, and the way we do it is key to that.”
"The transformation of this area from industrial to mixed-use has already begun with the removal of the tank farms and we are working closely with mana whenua to plan this new park, the largest to be created in 100 years since the completion of Victoria Park, for the benefit of all Aucklanders."
"We are keen to hear from a those with a proven collaborative approach to work with them, their partners and stakeholders on the design of this significant project."
