Work is underway to install additions to the playground at Cockle Bay Reserve.
Feedback from users and residents indicated a need for the playground to be upgraded to allow for more play experiences, shade in the playground as well as a safety barrier along the costal edge.

The scope of works includes:
- New playground equipment including accessible play elements
- An accessible path to the playground
- Natural play area next to the playground
- Add design elements as identified by the mana whenua and their appointed artist
- Installation of shade sails in areas where tree shade a minimal
- Installation of bollards and rope along the coastal edge
- Installation of additional seat next the playground.
Funded by Howick Local Board, the project is due for completion in April.
