A new website Love Puketāpapa launched at the recent Puketāpapa Community Network is already proving to be popular with local organisations and volunteers.
The website serves local initiatives by amplifying reach and gives organisations more flexibility, support and resources so that their mahi benefits Puketāpapa.
“For a long time, we’ve noticed the need for a truly local website that reflects and connects our community. It’s great to be able to provide the Love Puketāpapa platform for everyone to share especially at a time when in person interaction is understandably limited,” said Puketāpapa Local Board Chair Julie Fairey.
Community organisations and people can list their events, network with each other and share skills and residents can connect to locally-led initiatives. The local Eco Festival is featured on the website.
Puketāpapa Local Board is committed to building resilient and thriving local communities.
Over the last few months, local organisations have met critical needs in the community at the local level and through COVID–19 related uncertainties.
In response, supporting the community network and hosting the monthly community forum (online) are two of the ways the local board has ensured that locals and community organisations can connect with elected members and each other, and stay updated with Auckland Council’s work in the local area.
The local board's responsiveness is making a difference in helping people stay connected in socially isolating times.
“The community network is a key event for our local organisations to collaborate, network with each other, identify key topics, trends, concerns,” says Network Coordinator Nilofer Syran Cad.
“While goals of individual organisations may vary, we are all united in our effort to create healthy and happy communities.”
Organisations are welcome to register their interest and attend the three-monthly network meetings.

Locals are welcome to attend the monthly online community form and can follow the local board’s Facebook page for regular updates.
