Albert-Eden Local Board Chairperson Lee Corrick is stepping down from the position and will be replaced by Deputy Chair Margi Watson until the local government elections in October.

The board accepted Ms Corrick’s resignation at its May business meeting.

Outgoing chairperson Corrick, who will stay on as a board member, says she made the difficult decision due to personal reasons.

"It has been my privilege to work with my colleagues on this board and lead the decision making representing the people in our area. I am proud of the work we have continued to do to serve our communities through difficult times,” says Member Corrick.

“I wish Margi all the best in the role of chairperson in the coming months.”

Lee Corrick took over as Chair from Margi Watson in May 2021 as part of a cross-board agreement to share the role over the three-year electoral term.

Lee Corrick resigned as the Chairperson of Albert-Eden Local Board on 12 May 2022. She will continue as the local board member until the local government elections in October.

New chairperson elected

The board’s vote for a new chair was a tie between Mr Will McKenzie and Deputy Chairperson Margi Watson at four votes each and was decided by a coin toss.

Margi Watson says, “I thank Lee Corrick for her leadership over the last 12 months and look forward to returning to the chair role and providing some continuity over the coming months.”

Member Kendyl Smith was unanimously appointed as the Deputy Chairperson for the remainder of the political term.
