A new board member has joined Waitematā Local Board following the resignation of former board member Adriana Avendano Christie in March.

Genevieve Sage will be sworn in at the local board’s May business meeting on Tuesday 17 May.

Ms. Sage has the support of the local community behind her, narrowly missing out on a seat in the last local elections.

Waitematā Local Board Chair Richard Northey says the board welcomes Ms. Sage and is pleased to have her on board.

“It is important with six months still to go before local elections to have a full board,” he says.

“As the next highest polling unsuccessful candidate at the last election, Genevieve has demonstrated strong public support. She has knowledge and skills to bring to the role that are useful for the Board, and we are pleased that she has accepted the position.”

Ms. Sage says she’s excited about the opportunity to help central Auckland realise its true potential as one of the great cities of the world.

“As a resident of Auckland Central, I’m looking forward to working with the board to listen and act on behalf of the communities of Waitematā.”
