The total spend on economist Craig Renney’s report regarding the Port of Auckland is below. There have been requests for this information following the release of the report in May.
This report was one of several, as it was important to the Mayor that councillors were well-informed ahead of their decision-making on options for the Port of Auckland that were discussed as part of the Long-term Plan process. In addition to advice from council staff, independent advice was also provided by two well-known consulting firms: Flagstaff Partners and PWC.
Following requests from councillors, the Mayor also agreed to commission the further independent advice from Mr Renney, an economist and Director of Policy at the Council of Trade Unions. Mr Renney carried out the report as an independent economist. The Mayor has also always said that the protection of the rights of workers was a bottom line. Seeking advice from Mr. Renney also reflected that commitment to ensure that the port workers were properly considered.
