Pop-up dining is returning to Pukekohe to again showcase Franklin’s unique role as a food producer.
Leveraging off the success of the Chef’s Table event in April, Eat Street will showcase the best of Pukekohe eateries – this time offering two dining sessions.
Organised by The Kitchen Project and supported by the Pukekohe Business Association and Eke Panuku Development Auckland, the ticketed event will feature unique dishes from five local eateries, each specialising in a different cuisine.
Organiser Connie Clarkson says Kai Franklin Eat Street is a culinary celebration to highlight the rich diversity and quality of global flavours in the community.
The menu will include celebrated Pukekohe restaurants but also a unique collaboration with Pukekohe High School:
-
Terri Yummies – known for its quality delicious Vietnamese food
-
Ginger – a local favourite for many years, serving authentic Indian cuisine
-
Muang Thai – celebrated for home-cooked style vibrant Thai dishes
-
The Kohe Dumpling Kitchen: Pukekohe High School / The Kitchen Project – students prepare and serve Chinese dumplings and provide the service and music
-
Sparrow & Sweet – Finish your evening with Italian inspired award-winning gelato.
Franklin Local Board chair Angela Fulljames says The Kitchen Project is doing a fine job spreading the area’s food story and helping businesses get established.
“Food, not just growing it, but value-added businesses around it, are a major contributor to the area’s economy, and will become more and more important.
“Events like this and the previous dinner, which sold out quickly, help celebrate that and spread the message that good food begins right here in Franklin.”
Beverages from Hunua-based John Hill Estate and established New Zealand craft beer makers Manaia Craft Brewers will be served. Tickets are $65 and include your first drink. A cash bar will operate.
There are two 90-minute sessions, 5:30pm to 7pm and 7:30pm to 9pm, with only 80 tickets per session. Tickets on sale now.
