This Anzac Day marks 110 years of remembrance commemorating the landing of Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) troops at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. The first official day of commemoration was held the following year, in 1916.
Anzac Day is a time for reflection, bringing whānau and community together to honour those who have served and sacrificed for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Manurewa Local Board chair, Heather Andrew looks forward to paying her respects.
“The occasion brings our community together to connect and share stories and memories across generations,” says chair Andrew.
Papakura Local Board chair Kelvin Hieatt welcomes the opportunity to reflect.
“It’s important to show our appreciation for those who endured impacts of global conflicts that have afforded the freedoms we have today,” says chair Hieatt.
Manurewa and Papakura local boards, Auckland Council and Auckland Returned Services Assocation (RSA) invite you to join our local services and parades, honouring New Zealanders past and present who have served in conflicts, peacekeeping missions or military operations around the world.
