World of Cultures 2024
Welcome to World of Cultures, a 3-week multicultural festival celebrating the vibrancy of Tāmaki Makaurau and its people.
Enjoy more than 70 free or low-cost activities and events across the region. Attend a Korean kimchi class, dress in authentic Thai attire and learn about the essence of Thai culture, delve in to the world of bonsai and experience the energy of an African drum (djembe).

Don’t miss some of our bigger one-day events. Celebrating Cultures in Howick (23 March) offers dance, food, stalls and workshops. For more family fun, celebrate what unites us at FootballFest (13 April) in Māngere East as you cheer on teams representing nations from across the globe. Bring whānau and friends to join Play Festival at Freemans Bay (6 April), where tamariki can enjoy traditional games, music and food from many different cultures.
And finally, for a fantastic one-day, not-to-be-missed event, head to Mt Roskill War Memorial Park’s annual CultureFest (14 April). Experience colourful performances, cultural music and dance (traditional and contemporary), enlightening discussion and delicious food from Malaysian to Thai, Chilean, Eritrean, Slovakian, Afghani, Māori kai and more. More than 70 communities and cultures come together in one place.
