New bus services to connect Rodney communities

Getting around Rodney will be a whole lot easier from early next year thanks to two new bus services.

A new service running between Wellsford and Warkworth starts on 24 February 2019. Connecting to the Kowhai Coast (Matakana, Point Wells, Omaha, Snells Beach and Algies Bay) and Hibiscus Coast Station at Silverdale, the service will run hourly on both weekdays and weekends, providing a regular, safe and easy trip for commuters and travellers.

On the same day, a new Helensville (via Kaukapakapa) to Silverdale bus service begins, giving a west-to-east public transport option to major services and centres. The service will run every 90 minutes on weekdays and two-hourly on weekends.

Rodney Local Board Deputy Chair Phelan Pirrie says these are the first new services funded by Rodney ratepayers via the Rodney Transport Targeted Rate.

“Our local board has picked up these services so that communities can access education, health, social services and leisure activities using public transport.”

Final routes and timetables are being designed and more information will soon be posted online at AT.govt.nz

We look forward to introducing more new bus services, two park and rides, and new footpaths as the year progresses.
