Explore Auckland’s green spaces

Auckland is known worldwide for its extensive and beautiful parks and green spaces. Our parks network includes more than 4000 urban and suburban parks, farms, regional parks and sports fields, which together provide homes for our precious native wildlife, offer recreation opportunities, and help keep our city healthy.

And as recent research has found, parks, farms and green spaces have health benefits for people, too. Helping to protect our green spaces and being around nature makes us feel better, emotionally and physically – they give us a place where we can take time out to think, feel and breathe. As our city grows and intensifies, creating a healthy urban environment with parks and green spaces becomes more important for us, as well as for our air, soil and water.

Throughout May, OurAuckland is looking at how everyone can protect, expand and enjoy our green spaces.
