Pakuranga Library - Under the Sea April School Holiday Activities
Uncover secrets of the Moana these school holidays, and join us at Pakuranga Library for an awesome lineup of fun and exciting workshops, crafts, activities, movies, and more!
Week 1
- Monday 15th of April, 2 – 3pm: Underwater Sea Scape
Take an everyday item and create your version of an underwater seascape to take home.
Suitable for ages 5+. Parental assistance is required for younger tamariki.
- Tuesday 16th of April, 2 – 4pm: Blake NZ-VR
Experience underwater New Zealand through virtual reality! Don a virtual reality headset, courtesy of BLAKE, and discover the underwater world through 360˚ videos captured by New Zealand Geographic.
Suitable for ages 5 - 12.
Sessions run for 30 minutes. Limited numbers per session;

- Wednesday, 17th of April, 2 – 3pm: GKR Karate
Have you always wanted to learn some karate moves and self-defense techniques? Here's your chance! Join GKR Karate and try out some fantastic skills.
Suitable for ages 5+. Parental supervision is recommended.
- Thursday 18th of April, 2 – 3pm: Ocean Tea Party
Join us for a tea party inspired by the moana – decorate your own sea animal biscuit and enjoy an ocean inspired beverage.
Suitable for ages 5+. Parental guidance is recommended for younger tamariki.
Limited numbers; kai available on a first-come, first served basis.
- Friday 19th of April, 1 – 2pm: Auckland Zoo
Join our friends from The Conservation Learning Team at Auckland Zoo and discover all the hidden secrets of the mighty moana.
Suitable for ages 5+. Parental guidance is recommended for younger tamariki.
- Saturday 20th of April 2 – 3.30pm: Creative Workshop by Stephanie Glass
Join Stephanie Glass, author of “Luna in the Forest,” for a creative workshop (storytelling and drawing activities) on finding out what makes kids unique and how differences make communities more fun, beautiful, and meaningful.
Suitable for ages 8 - 12.
- Sunday 21st of April 2 – 3pm: Codey Rocky
Help our friendly robot, Codey Rocky, navigate the choppy sea and get to its destination.
Suitable for ages 8 - 12. Parental assistance is required for younger tamariki.
Week 2
- Monday 22nd of April, 1 – 2pm: SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium
Join our friends from Kelly Tarlton’s Aquarium and learn about the magic of the ocean.
Suitable for ages 5+. Parental guidance is recommended for younger tamariki.
- Tuesday 23rd of April 2 – 3pm: Recycled Ocean Fun
Go wild & get creative with recyclables! Using recyclables that you can find at home and join in for a fun session repurposing, reusing and recreating creatures or treasures you may find under the sea.
Suitable for ages 5 - 12. Parental assistance is required for younger tamariki.
- Wednesday 24th of April 2 – 3pm: Poppy Craft
Celebrate ANZAC day with us with a poppy craft at the library - let us remember and honour all the fallen soldiers.

- Thursday 25th of April - ANZAC DAY: LIBRARY CLOSED
- Friday 26th of April @2pm: Movie Time!
Bring a friend, family, or just yourself, and join us at the library for a fun afternoon movie inspired by the ocean. Suitable for ages 5+.
- Saturday 27th of April, 2 – 3pm: Ocean CD Art
Reuse and repurpose an old CD and transform it into creatures or treasures you may find under the sea.
Suitable for ages 5+. Parental assistance is required for younger tamariki.
- Sunday 28th of April, 2 – 3pm: LEGO Master
Let your imagination go wild and have a blast creating with LEGO in the library. What under the sea creatures or objects will you create this time? Suitable for all ages.
Getting to Pakuranga Library during Reeves Road Closure - Access the Pakuranga Plaza carpark from the entrance on Pakuranga Road or from Ti Rakau Drive at the new Palm Avenue intersection. Underground carparking also available - please use the entrance at the Warehouse end of the building. Access this entrance via Cortina Place, off William Roberts Road, or from the Pakuranga Plaza carpark.
