‘Lest we forget’, the three simple words that show remembrance of those who have fought or died for their country, now mark the new entrance to the war memorial section of Ōtāhuhu Cemetery.

“It was a privilege to work alongside the RSA throughout the project,” says Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board member Christine O’Brien. “We are proud of the end result, which was completed to mark the commemorations of the First World War centenary.”

“It was important to honour this section of the cemetery with its own entrance, and to enhance the surrounding memorial area,” says Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board Chair Lydia Sosene.

“The war memorial is for our fallen soldiers, and for future generations to come and pay their respects."
