Weed removal projects are among those to receive Franklin Local Board community grants.

Community events, Christmas parades, weed eradication and a communal food garden will benefit from Franklin Local Board’s latest round of community grants.

In September, the board approved grants totalling more than $60,000 to 19 different groups and organisations from its local board, quick response and multi-board grant programmes.

The board also allocated funding to several Franklin schools to help with the costs of keeping their pools open for public use this summer.

Building strong communities

Community grants are one way local boards help to build strong communities by funding services and initiatives that have a positive impact on Aucklanders.

The grants support a wide range of initiatives in arts and culture, community development, environmental and natural heritage, events, and sports and recreation.

There are application rounds throughout the year.
