The Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) is New Zealand’s largest transport and technology museum.
It holds more than 300,000 artefacts, and has an exciting range of exhibitions, interactive events and school holiday activities that make it the perfect place to spend a day with friends and whānau.
Recent additions include The Innovators, an exhibition showcasing the stories of successful Kiwis, and Get Smart, which chronicles the evolution of technology into today’s essential device, the smartphone.
MOTAT has been upgraded recently, with new wayfinding signs, a refreshed logo, and artistic murals. These changes help make the museum a creative environment that allows visitors to engage with its collection in a hands-on way.
Visit MOTAT at 805 Great North Road, Western Springs. It is open from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week. Admission fees apply.
