The Zero Waste Zone is a fun, hands-on learning centre for Aucklanders who want to find out more about creative upcycling.
Located at the Waitākere Refuse Transfer Station in Henderson, the Zero Waste Zone showcases ways to repurpose and rethink waste as a resource, and demonstrates how we can work towards our goal of zero waste to landfill by 2040.
Visitors can wander the experience trail, which is built completely from items that have been given a second life, and explore the recycling shop, the Tipping Point.
The Zero Waste Zone also offers a free zero-waste programme to Auckland schools for students to learn about recycling, worm farms and more.
To book a free zero-waste session for your school or community group, email wastewiseschools@aucklandcouncil.govt.nz or come to our public open day on 18 July from 10am to 2pm.
