Changes for bus users in Auckland’s central suburbs take effect on 8 July.
There will be new routes, timetables, buses, and in some cases, bus stops, across Auckland from New Lynn to Panmure, Glen Innes, St Heliers, and from Onehunga to the city centre.
Whau Ward Councillor Ross Clow says, “The changes to the bus network will provide a simpler, more frequent service.”
“With hundreds of more cars being added each week to Auckland’s roads, we must do all we can to make public and active transport modes more appealing and efficient for Aucklanders.
“This will help ease congestion and create a healthier city for people and the environment.”
The changes will improve crosstown routes and offer better off-peak and weekend services with more frequent buses.
Frequent routes will run to and from the city seven days a week at least every 15 minutes until late evening.
The new network will be better connected and easier to understand, although in some cases you may need to transfer to complete your journey.
Bus routes
Route 66 will run between Pt Chevalier and Sylvia Park (via Mt Albert Road, Mt Smart Road, and Penrose Road).
Route 68 will make getting between Onehunga, Hillsborough, Blockhouse Bay and New Lynn easier.
Buses on both these routes will run at least every 15 minutes from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week.
Route 670 will connect New Lynn to Ōtāhuhu via Avondale, Stoddard Road and Onehunga.
Route 20 will connect the entertainment, shopping and cultural hubs in Kingsland, St Lukes, Ponsonby and Wynyard Quarter.
And if you’re exploring other parts of Auckland, a new blue TāmakiLink will connect the eastern bays to Britomart, and run in addition to the current CityLink, InnerLink, and OuterLink.
