The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and the California Clean Energy Fund recently announced the California Climate Cup, a startup innovation competition.
The competition is looking for the next generation of technologies, business models, and platforms to help megacities reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve air quality, and enhance resiliency in the face of climate change.
Matt Petersen, President and CEO of LACI and a speaker at a recent Auckland Conversations event, says that fighting climate change will take innovators with cutting-edge solutions that can be implemented in large cities.
Category winners will receive cash prizes and the opportunity to pitch their startup at a Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco in September where the grand prize winner will be announced. Two of the category winners will receive a prize of $5000 USD, and the grand prize winner will be awarded $25,000 USD.
The California Climate Cup application deadline is 6 August 2018.
