One of Auckland Transport’s trains is being rolled out with a new look and new message.
The electric train has been wrapped in a new design by artists Flox and Trustme, incorporating the safety message ‘Look Both Ways’ which can be read, no matter which direction the train is travelling in.
This project is part of a wider ‘Be Track Smart’ theme, being used across the AT Metro network says Stacey van der Putten, Group Manager of Metro Services.
“We want to get the message across that two tracks can mean two trains. Our electric trains can travel at speed and are very quiet.”
The design includes a flock of flying Wax-eye birds, in different flying stances, looking both left and right to portray movement and direction.
“These birds are abundant in both urban and suburban back yards and shows that connection as these trains take passengers both to and from a suburban or rural setting to an urban one,” says artist Flox.
The train will be in service from Wednesday 17 July.
