Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa ward councillor Cathy Casey is asking our community to work together to help keep each other safe during this fresh outbreak of COVID-19 and the alert level 3 restrictions. She says while it is important to get outdoors and keep active we need to put community safety first:
“Please don’t use playgrounds, skate parks and exercise equipment during this lockdown. It puts everyone at risk. We all need to act as if we have the virus to prevent the spread and keep everyone safe.”
“Our staff and contractors have done a great job updating signage in our parks and facilities to help everyone understand the restrictions in place and a number of local playgrounds have been taped off to make absolutely clear that they should not be used. Most public toilets are also closed and those that remain open have increased cleaning to minimise the risk.”
“Take a walk in one of our beautiful local parks instead, where social distancing is easier.”
Up to date information about council closures can be found on the OurAuckland website.
While many council facilities have had to shut their physical doors, the council is still offering many ways to help you and the kids keep busy at home during lockdown.
“Why not check out the great range of e-books from Auckland Libraries, visit the museum online or learn about composting? These are some safe ways to keep busy and active while in lockdown. Together we can beat this virus.” says Councillor Casey.
