Winter has arrived and with it thousands of native plants ready for planting in local parks across the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board area.

Hibiscus and Bays Local Board Deputy Chair Victoria Short is inviting locals to help plant 20,000 shrubs and trees in 18 local parks over the next three months.

“Planting days are a fun activity for families and a way of giving back to the community.

“Council parks staff and volunteers really appreciate the extra help because while the winter season is ideal for planting, it is a very busy time, and in some parks there are large areas to plant.

“All it takes is a few hours of hard work and effort to make a lasting contribution to your local park.”
