Grants help Manurewa groups

Funding for Sir John Walker's Find Your Field of Dreams initiative will allow youngsters to engage in athletics.

Applications for Manurewa Local Board grant funding reached almost $200,000 in the latest round.

With that figure far exceeding the available budget, some applications were declined, and others were only partly funded.

Among the successful applicants were groups helping Manurewa youth, including Youthline, Guardians of our Children Trust – which works with separated parents, and programmes in local schools.

  • Weymouth Residents and Ratepayers - printing
  • Tim Bray Theatre Company - South Auckland creative drama classes
  • Blue Light Ventures - Street Smart handbook
  • Counties Manukau Gymnastics - new season medals
  • YMCA North - Raise Up Youth
  • Rising Foundation - Manurewa High School programme
  • Mountfort Park Water Polo - pool hire
  • Mainly Music NZ - facilitator costs
  • Southern District Chinese Association - Lunar New Year
  • Youthline - counsellor support
  • Guardians of our Children Trust - parenting workshops
  • Life Education - Manurewa programme costs
  • Ronald Hamalala – chess, coaching and other costs
  • Road Safety Education - Manurewa High School programme
  • Te Whakaora Tangata - Family Restoration
  • Southside - venue hire
  • Rawiri Residents Association - Community Whare programme
  • Action Education - Manurewa schools spoken word workshops
  • Manurewa Croquet Club - greenkeeping
  • Southeast Auckland Senior Citizens – Waitangi trip
  • John Walker Find Your Field of Dreams - Run, Jump and Throw for Gold.
