The first funding round for the Auckland Together Fund, of which Auckland Council is a partner, is closing on Friday 11 August.
The Auckland Together Fund was set up by the Auckland Foundation earlier this year to support the recovery of Tāmaki Makaurau communities following the January floods and Cyclone Gabrielle.
Since the extreme weather events six months ago, there remain thousands of displaced individuals, as well as significant impacts on communities including business closures, housing challenges, infrastructure issues and mental health impacts.
Auckland Council’s Group Community and Social Recovery Lead Linda Greenalgh is pleased to see the first round of funding opened.
“The impact of these severe weather events on Tāmaki Makaurau has been devastating. Families have been uprooted, communities face unforeseen challenges and Aucklanders have been left facing uncertainty about their future.
“We’re pleased to see funding open to support organisations working closely with those affected.”
The Auckland Together Fund, with support from Auckland Council, is helping to re-build Tāmaki Makaurau with available grants of $10,000 to $50,000 for organisations providing frontline support to those impacted. The total amount for distribution this funding round is just under $1 million.
The first funding round invites organisations that are providing support to affected communities across Auckland in response to the severe weather events in the first half of 2023.
Priority will be given to organisations that are focusing on:
- outreach care to those experiencing homelessness,
- providing essential items to communities,
- whānau and individuals in need or
- delivering wrap around social support services.

Applications for the first funding round of the Auckland Together Fund close 5pm, Friday 11 August 2023.
