Jacqui Geux was an extraordinary citizen scientist and former Auckland Museum employee. From the foothills of the Waitākere Ranges to the white cliffs of Te Kauwae-a-Māui Cape Kidnappers, Jacqui made thousands of observations of New Zealand wildlife. She uploaded her studies to the website iNaturalist NZ, where her photos and observations have become valuable scientific records.
In addition to her remarkable natural history observations, Jacqui ran the popular Waitakere Ranges WEST Facebook page and volunteered her time to many conservation projects: Matuku Link, Ark in the Park, Ambury Farm, and Piha Coastcare.
Jacqui shared her photographs generously, and her beautiful images appear in natural history books, scientific research, and on signage around the Waitākere Ranges.
Jacqui's legacy shows how much can be acheived by getting outdoors and observing nature. This pop-up exhibition invites visitors to gain a new appreciation for the wildlife of Aotearoa from the heart of the Waitākere Ranges.
