Join us at Whangaparāoa Library these school holidays for loads of fun and activities! 

Everyday activities:

  • Whale Scavenger Hunt: Did you know that Whangaparāoa means Bay of Whales? Challenge yourself and expand your knowledge of these ocean giants.
  • Message in a Bottle: Tamariki can write a “message in a bottle” and hang it on our blue tree, located upstairs in the children’s area.
  • Mermaid Library Literacy Scavenger Hunt: Help our mermaids learn about the library with a fun library literacy scavenger hunt.

Minecraft Underwater Adventure - 17 April: 10-12pm

Calling all Minecraft enthusiasts! A special school holiday session to test your underwater build skills. Tamariki are invited to come along with their Minecraft-loaded devices (BYOD) and help build a City Under the Sea. For those without devices, we’ll have lego and other Minecraft activities to keep them entertained.

Keep the Sea Litter Free with Hibiscus Zero Waste - 18 April: 10-11am

Come and learn all about sea pollution and what we can do to reduce our impact on the ocean. Together we will create a collage piece that will reflect the different aspects of our ocean. Thank you to Hibiscus Coast Zero Waste for running this awesome event!

Knitting with Sharon - 19 April and 26 April: 10-11am

Click, clack, click…the knitting needles will be busy again these school holidays! Tamariki and whānau are invited to bring along their own needles and yarn to learn to knit or expand on their expertise. All levels are welcome!

Make a poppy for ANZAC day with Hibiscus Coast Genealogy - 22 April: 10-11am

Tamariki and whānau are invited to join Hibiscus Coast Genealogy to create beautiful remembrance poppies in honour of ANZAC day.

Sand Art and Story Time - 23 April: 10-11am

Join us for a special sea-themed story time, followed by an opportunity for each child to create a special bottle of sand art.
