Auckland Transport (AT) and Auckland Council want to know what you think of the future of transport in Auckland.
Consultation runs from 1 to 14 May and lays out plans to respond to population growth and other challenges facing Auckland over the next 10 years through a prioritised programme of transport services and activities.
West councillors advocate for upgrades
“The west has some of the busiest roads in Auckland,” says Waitākere Ward Councillor Linda Cooper.
“There are a number of projects that we are advocating for out west. We need to upgrade Lincoln Road to cater for all modes: walking, cycling, buses and cars. We also need to create a separate bus lane on the motorway from Te Atatū to Westgate.
“With up to 800 cars arriving on our roads each week, it’s better to take action now before things get even worse.”
Waitākere Ward Councillor Penny Hulse says, “We’d also like to see the Western train line eventually extended from Swanson to Kumeū. This option will make a lot of sense for commuters in the northwest once the City Rail Link is complete.”
