“From today, everyone in New Zealand over 12 is eligible for vaccination against COVID-19. The latest community outbreak shows that people of every age including the young are affected, and the best protection against the disease and its spread is to be vaccinated,” the Mayor says.
Auckland Mayor Phil Goff says that most Aucklanders, while not liking the extension of Alert Level 4 in the city, would understand the necessity for it.
Mayor Phil Goff and councillors Alf Filipaina, Efeso Collins and Josephine Bartley have led a virtual fono (meeting) with Pacific leaders to discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on Pasifika people in Auckland and how the council could help with accelerating the vaccine rollout, providing welfare support and combatting racism.
